Sundays in my City #48 – A Weekend Away

15 Feb

The school term may have only just begun but already I was in need of a holiday.  Fortunately we had a weekend away booked so we packed up the car and headed to Corowa (NSW) for the weekend, for a Sunday in my City that wasn’t anywhere near the city.

Saturday morning I went for a walk with the girls along the track towards the Murray River.  It could hardly be called exercise but it was fun, wet and muddy.

Walking Through Water

Any exercise benefits were quickly rectified with a trip to the Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory where the kids all made giant chocolate freckles.

Freckles

I was happy that the kids thought it was too hot to eat chocolate and it was melting quickly so that they handed it over to me to devour.

We headed back to the place we were calling home for the weekend for a swim in the pool.  After killing one camera in the past month, I decided to leave the camera safe and dry in our cabin as we cooled off.

We then spent the evening at All Saints Winery, at a day on the green listening to the music of the Baby Animals and INXS.  It was a fantastic night and we all had a great time, made all the better by the kids loving the music we love.  In fact as I type, the boy is bragging to his friend about how cool the songs were!

Not only was the entertainment amazing, the sunset was spectacular!

The most amazing sunset

After the great but exhausting day, we planned a more relaxing Sunday, geocaching along the Murray River.  We had a great time exploring places like this

but our hunt was slowed significantly by these

The spiders that nightmares are made of

These spiders were huge and everywhere!

Despite the spiders we had a great time.  To see what others have been up to on their Sundays in my City, head over to Unknown Mami.

Great to hear you enjoyed A Day on the Green at All Saints. The insects are breeding like crazy due to so much rain but isn’t it great to see everything looking so lovely and green! We hope you all come and visit again soon!..Cheers, Angela http://www.allsaintswine.com.au

I had no idea it was ever too hot to eat chocolate.
