A girl’s night in is always a great way to spend a Friday night.
The kids decided to spend the night at my sisters and man-child was ‘networking’ after work (read going to the pub and watching footy). The invite went out for friends to come over and watch
5 grown-up girls all together, surely we could decide on something to eat and watch. It was too wet and cold to go out so we dragged out the menu book (yes, a not so mild dose of OCD – I have a menu book, not just a pile of takeaway menus scattered randomly around the house).
- Indian? No too spicy…
- African? No, they don’t deliver…
- Pizza? No I have had that already this week…
- Thai? No, again with the too spicy…
- Fish and Chips? OK, I guess someone can go and pick them up…
OK, so the first part is done, we have food ordered and on the way, now what to watch. Flicking through the channels we found that So You Think You Can Dance was on. Of the 4 girls currently in the room, 1 had never heard of the show, 1 loves it and has been watching it online and 2 desperate to watch it. The choice was easy, the watching was much harder, between explaining how the show worked and suggesting death threats to one who was providing too many teasers about who was in the top 4. Argh, we are watching to see who makes the top 20, enough already!
After the show, it was early enough to watch a movie and we were back to the drawing board again…
- teen flick? Over them…
- sport movie? Boring…
- thriller? Too scary…
- Joss Whedon? I want Buffy, no Angel, no lets watch Firefly…
Final choice? Bring It On an old favourite and a crowd pleaser. The Movie Nerd, the Skanky Bogan, the Almost-Normal One, the Stresser and I could all agree that a total no brainer was in order, especially one that is a teen sports flick. The final challenge was to see who could recite the movie word for word!
