Relish, my Relish

A Good Day.

So an early morning jog in the (very) crisp winter air clears my head.  Another bonus is that it lets me plan the day, as much as a day of work can be planned.  This morning was a bonus, my jog was followed by enough peace and quiet that I could read a few blogs before I heard the stomping of not-so-little feet coming down the stairs.

I am so glad that I read early, I found that Joss Whedon’s latest was available today – Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.  Act 1 is 13 minutes of Joss genius, bring on Act 2.  (Thanks for the link Zoot)  The vibes for a good day were set.

The vibes delivered a plethora of pleasantness

  • the kids were user-friendly and were ready in time to go to school with no major dramas
  • there was pleasing eye candy walking his son to school
  • a work shopping trip found me outside the Nike outlet during a huge sale.  I found a running jacket that actually fit and it was 40% off, now I have no excuses about running in the cold.
  • man-child has been offered a new job (again with the superstitious behaviour, I won’t say anymore until it is real)

Then to cap off a perfectly pleasant day – So You Think You Can Dance started again tonight.  (Yes I know that I could watch the entire series online but I enjoy the anticipation and watching with friends.)

It wasn’t the day I had planned as I ventured out into the cold, but it was a great day.  I hope you had a great day too.

Peace and Quiet

July 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So today is 3 days in a row that I have crawled out of bed at 6.15 to exercise (walk/run/stagger).  I have to say so far so good.  It is actually really pleasant being up and alone for a change.

On the downside, so it is cold out, really cold.  This morning there was ’steam’ rising from the river as I ran.  It was a beautiful picture; still dark, stars in the sky, steam rising from the river and then the city appearing to rise from the fog, then when the fog cleared, the city lights were reflected in the stillness of the water.

On the brighter side of cold, the heater has kicked in by the time I get back.  AND far more enjoyable is the peace and quiet before the kids come running down the stairs in a fit of morning hyperactivity.  I really think I could come to love these early mornings.
